Natural Resource Technician

(Seasonal/Multiple crew lead and crew member positions available)

Duties/Description: Assist in conducting fish distribution surveys in headwater streams and wildlife sampling in Washington and Oregon. Position will be mostly field-based. Work conditions are often strenuous and require traversing steep forested terrain in all weather conditions with a 35 pound backpack. Map reading, aerial photo interpretation and orienteering skills will be used on a daily basis. Positions are based out of Tumwater, WA but four day, overnight travel weeks will be required. Company vehicles are provided for travel and lodging and meal costs are paid while away from the Tumwater operations base.

Qualifications: The successful applicant will have a degree in the natural sciences or be actively seeking a degree in a related field. The successful applicant must demonstrate an ability to follow strict sampling protocols and be proficient in the collection of scientific data. Map reading skills, accurate interpretation of aerial photography and orienteering skills are required. Prior professional experience in the fields of fisheries, wildlife, forestry, or geological disciplines is highly desirable.

Salary: $12.50 - $17.50 per hour plus overtime, depending on experience.

Duration: Approximately six months (March 1 - August 31, 2019), depending on project duration.
