West Fork provided field support to Seattle Public Utilities to implement an acoustic telemetry study tracking adult bull trout, rainbow trout and pygmy whitefish in Chester Morse Lake, a reservoir managed to supply drinking water to the City of Seattle.

West Fork staff participated in the installation of hydrophones (Vemco VR2W) in the reservoir from a small boat and installed hydrophones in pools in large river system upstream of the reservoir. Temperature loggers were positioned at key locations within the reservoir and stream network to help explain seasonal conditions at each site.

Periodic downloads of acoustic data from hydrophones was performed in the field and maintenance at each installation site performed. West Fork utilized Vemco software and an Access database to manage the vast amount of data acquired.
