2026 PIT Tag Specialist

Responsibilities:  This position is responsible for designing and fabricating PIT tag antennas and integrating associated electrical components and power supplies. These antenna arrays are for the purpose of detecting PIT tagged fish and wildlife in both natural settings and at engineered infrastructure such as hydroelectric facilities and irrigation systems.   

 

Duties:  This position will be engaged in many activities including:

  • Field installation and maintenance of PIT tag detection systems,

  • Designing and fabricating low frequency electromagnetic antennas for use instream,

  • Integrating electrical components including transceivers, controllers, and various power supplies,

  • Troubleshooting PIT tag detection systems,

  • Participating in tagging and other fisheries sampling projects,

  • Bidding and quoting PIT tag jobs,

  • Communicating with clients, developing, and managing budgets,

  • Maintaining fabrication and installation equipment to ensure proper functionality,

  • Writing proposals and developing new business.

 

Qualifications:  The successful candidate will have a background in electronics, integration of various electrical components and radio frequency identification devices and systems experience. Experience with remote communications, fiber optics and programmable controllers is desirable. Some work locations are remote and require jobs be performed in difficult and strenuous environmental circumstances. Attention to detail, strong problem solving and project management skills are required.
